REVIEW

Technology

Let' suppose that we want to produce briquettes from the wet raw material that is typical waste of a saw mill. It will be wood chips and saw dust with moisture content of about 40-60%.

As is well known, a briquette or pellet press can work only if the moisture of raw material is in the range of 8-12% as optimal. Also the raw material should be homogeneously milled even if you use sawdust or shavings only. This means you have to separate big pieces and scrap beforehand, especially metallic inclusions, after that you should grind raw material if they are chips, then dry and again mill the dry material before you can use it in a press.

The traditional way to perform these operations is to pre-grind wood chips in a special mill (it can be a special hammer mill or chipper), then dry it in a drum dryer (pre-grind is necessary because the drum dryer can effectively dry only small particular pieces of raw material). After drying you have to mill it once again to obtain the homogeneous fine material. In general we can see that processing of raw material in the drum dryer is very expensive, requires the use of a lot of sophisticated equipment including extra conveyors and cyclones, so the drum dryer itself looks like a monster, takes much space and brings fire hazard.

You may ask if the same could be done otherwise

We suggest another technology based on AS-4 dryer. Only a single unit can both mill and dry raw material. It was developed in Russia and patented in Europe and other countries.

Overview our technology

briquette plant

Wood chips and saw dust as raw material are accumulated in the "moving-floor" storage (1). Slabs, logs and other kind of big wood pieces can be grinded to wood chips by the same chipper machine. From the moving floor the raw material enters the AS dryer by the chain conveyor (3). Also the hot air required for the drying process enters the dryer from the heat generator (2). The heat generator (not boiler!) uses the same raw material as fuel. It can be wood dust or chips loaded from the fuel silo or firewood, slabs, logs, etc. which may be loaded manually to the burner.

The raw material in the AS is dried and milled until particular pieces become small enough and dry to the level you may set on the control panel. After that the dry material flows to he cyclone (4), where the wet air is separated from it and then it goes down to the conveyor which transfers this ready-for-use raw material to the silo (5) of the briquette (or pellet) press.

Note that the AS-4 based drying solution is optimal for small plants with the capacity range of 300-1500 kg/hr of final product. The drum dryers of small capacities are usually inefficient and extremely expensive.

We also have several kinds of mobile plants with capacities of 300 and 500 kg/hr integrated in the standard container frame.

We produce all this equipment atour plant situated in Pskov, Russia. It's meet CE and other necessary requirements, so it is ready for sale in Europe and everywhere. Now it works at more than 30 installations in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and other countries.
