Drying and milling unit AS-4

"AS" is the most effective way to prepare raw material for briquette or pellet plant of small and middle capacity. A single unit with a control panel and cyclone can replace a drum dryer along with the inlet grinder, outlet hummer mill and all the devices connected.

The "AS" drying system can be used on the input of wood chips, saw dust or mix as raw material with the moisture up to 60%. In a few seconds of operation this material will be dried and milled to the state that an operator can set up on the control panel. Normally the output capacity is 1 ton/hr of 1 x 0,5 x 0,5 mm particular pieces of dry material with 10% moisture and wood chips of 20 x 20 x 5 mm with 50% moisture.

AS-4 is based on high-speed activator which mills raw material in the stream of hot air from heat generator. During this process the material rises up but is held inside the dryer by the classifier mounted in the upper part until particular pieces become small and dry enough. The classifier is adjusted by the control panel and allows to manage the process.

The raw material (chips, saw dust, also peat or other) enter the AS. Also the hot air (usually of 200-300oC) required for the drying process enters the dryer from the heat generator (2). The raw material is dried and milled inside the AS until particular pieces become small enough and dry as you want. After that the dry material flows to the cyclone where it is separated from the wet air and goes down through the cyclone. Now it is ready for use and can be fed directly to the silo of the briquette or pellet press.

Advantages to compare with drum dryer.

• compactness, much less cost of building foundations, transportation costs, etc.;
• fire safety, fire hazard is excluded due to the high velocity of the material in the activator;
• maximum readiness for use, simple installation;
• quick start and stop, the withdrawal of operating mode takes only few minutes;
• high degree of automation, options of drying and milling are run by an operator from the console;
• low operating costs;
• of the wood chip at the input we get homogeneously milled dry material at the output which is ideal for production of briquettes or pellets. All milled functions take place inside the unit eliminating the need for two shredders at the inlet and outlet of the drum, with relevant cyclones and transporters ;
